The Methodology
Bridging Anatomy, Psychology, and Somatics for Profound Pelvic Integration
The area of the perineum includes a network of muscles and fascia within a movable protective structure (the pelvis), all of which influence the good functioning of our inner organs. The perineum constitutes a dynamic foundation for posture, breath, movement, and emotional regulation in our personal lives and relationships. A healthy pelvic floor has to respond spontaneously in everyday situations alternating between tonicity, relaxation, and flexibility. Our methodology approaches pelvic floor integration as a whole-body experience, bridging anatomy, psychology, and somatics to reveal its foundational role in movement, alignment, self-confidence and embodied presence.

The Embodied Anatomy of the Pelvic Floor
The pelvic floor is a dynamic system of muscles and fascia at the center of the body that interacts with a myriad of pathways. Activity in your pelvic floor influences your breathing gesture, spinal posture, and hip mobility, which in turn shape your freedom of movement, grounding, stability, as well as nervous system regulation throughout the body. This specialty course will take you on an in-depth journey through the pelvic floor, its anatomy, and how to enhance physical and emotional wellbeing with simple and practical exercises designed for tonicity as well as relaxation and elasticity. It is also ideal for any professional who wishes to integrate pelvic floor exercises for Nervous System Regulation into their practice or create their own thematic workshops and group classes!

Somatic Movement Protocols for Pelvic Floor Wellbeing
Our Pelvic Floor Integration protocols are designed to cultivate a profound connection with the perineum, inviting you to explore how movement influences this foundational part of the body. Through gentle, intentional exercises, you will learn how to release tension, increase awareness, and foster greater mobility. Each sequence is curated to support the body's spontaneous rhythms allowing the pelvic floor to enliven your movements in a way that feels enjoyable and natural. Through carefully designed exercises that bring strength, mobility, and passive stretching to this delicate part of the body, our clinically-based protocols will enhance your wellbeing in every aspect of your life!

Psychological and Somatic Integration
The pelvic floor is intertwined with the conscious and subconscious processes of our body and mind including deep patterns shaped by life experiences, emotions, and nervous system responses. Our methodology bridges psychology and somatic awareness, providing tools to recognize and reframe these patterns with clarity and care. Through guided somatic psychology protocols, you will learn how to track subtle shifts in sensation, posture, and breath, helping your clients access hidden connections between their physical experiences and emotional landscapes. This approach fosters deep integration, allowing for the release of both chronic and occasional stress while providing easy to implement strategies for developing new and more supportive psychological responses.

Dr. Andrea Traldi is an incredibly creative professional and I am deeply impressed by his skills and competence in the field of Somatic Psychology. The original IOAS methodology seamlessly combines profound knowledge and breadth of expertise in psychology techniques with precise exercises for physical wellbeing. This unique and original approach allows practitioners to expand beyond the physical impact of movement sequences and include crucially important emotional aspects of the human experience. The training material available in the IOAS online campus is truly first-rate and helped me experience a personal journey of transformation while assimilating all the content at a natural pace including moments for pause, integration, and feedback. I highly recommend the Pelvic Floor Integration Specialty Course as a personal journey of discovery and as an opportunity to supercharge your professional expertise.

Curriculum
An Immersive Approach to Pelvic Floor Education
Each module builds a comprehensive understanding of the pelvic floor, moving beyond the study of isolated structures to explore their syncretic role in breath, posture, nervous system regulation, and emotional wellbeing. Through original movement sequences, somatic awareness practices, and integrative psychology protocols, you will develop the tools to assess, support, and guide others in enhancing their balance and resilience.

01 - The Pelvis. The Bone Temple of Your Perineum.
Having an embodied experience of the pelvis using self-touch, massage and movements that are easy to practice establishes a comfortable connection to further explore deeper structures inside the pelvis, such as the muscular layers, fascia, viscera, and sphincters that are more difficult to feel and recognize. Through movement sequences that relax and nourish tendons, insertions, joints, and more, you will learn the anatomy the pelvis while practicing Somatic Awareness exercises that feel safe, interesting, and anatomically correct.

02 - Superficial Pelvic Floor. Delicate and Precise.
The superficial muscles of the pelvic floor are thin and small. Isolating and activating them requires precise instructions to generate the appropriate level of contraction in the right location, creating movement trajectories in accordance with the direction of the fibers we want to contract or stretch. The superficial pelvic floor is often caught between stronger forces generated around it. Learning to cultivate a gentle approach to this delicate part of the body opens the possibility for connecting with important sensorial and psychological aspects of our intimate lives.

03 - Deep Pelvic Floor. Support and Flexibility.
The deep pelvic floor has a central role in our curriculum for Nervous System Regulation through Pelvic Floor Integration. First, we will explore the sensorial difference between the anterior pelvic floor and the posterior pelvic floor. Next, we will bring awareness to the erectile bodies learning how to engage them from different areas in and around the pelvic floor. Lastly, we will travel to three different depths in the perineum to generate a unique sensorial feedback for each one of them thus liberating hidden limitations and creating powerful somatic and emotional release.

04 - Beyond the Pelvic Floor. Extrinsic Muscles and Limbs.
This chapter offers practical exercises that reveal how the movements of the legs, feet, trunk, arms, and hands pull and release the fascia of the core which has a strong impact on the wellbeing of the pelvic floor. Likewise, hidden stress in the area of the pelvic floor can limit our whole-body movements making us feel unstable, weak, and interrupted by some defense mechanism or resistance at the center of the body. You will learn how to generate freedom of movement, higher performance, and pleasure by transforming simple movements that we practice every day into elegant spiraling trajectories that allow you to feel grounded while reaching towards the sky.

05 - Visceral Perineum and Sphincters. Self-Confidence and Pleasure.
Underneath the pelvis, superficial pelvic floor, and deep pelvic floor, lie the viscera of the perineum. Our deepest and most hidden perineum is connected with the outside world by direct passages called sphincters. In this chapter, you will learn gentle and safe exercises to contribute to the wellbeing of your inner organs and respectful, enjoyable practices for your sphincters. Now that you have explored the container of the pelvic floor with its bones, joints, muscles and tendons, you are ready to proceed with the right sensibility to the inner realm, the most intimate and subconscious part of your perineum...

06 - Perineal Voice and Breathflow Sessions.
The last chapter in our journey towards Nervous System Regulation through Pelvic Floor Integration covers the interplay between the breathing gesture and pelvic floor pressures. How does our pelvic floor influences our breathing and our voice? Which actions in everyday life project pressures on the pelvic floor and how can we respond with flexibility and adaptability? Is it possible to use our pelvic floor in coordination with the abdominal muscles and the respiratory diaphragm to project a better voice? How do different words, phonemes, and the intensity of our voice reflect on our pelvic floor wellbeing? How do we coordinate breathing, speaking, shouting, and singing with different positions of the body?

Being a Yoga teacher, I had already studied and worked with anatomy, particularly the pelvic floor. This course went far beyond simply mapping the body from table to mat. The implementation of the exercises allowed me to deeply feel the implications of anatomical constructs and how they reshape our human experience. What made it truly engaging was how it connected not just to physical awareness but also to regulating the nervous system, offering a more holistic and transformative approach than I had anticipated. Overall, the Pelvic Floor Integration approach has significantly enhanced my abilities, both as a therapist and a teacher. It has deepened my attunement to the language clients use during the sessions I impart, allowing me to connect more intuitively with their needs. Additionally, it has shifted the way I emphasize the importance of rest and stillness—particularly in the final resting pose, Shavasana, after a yoga practice.
